Refrigeration Measures

Refrigeration Measures:

Reach-in Door Gaskets

A refrigerated reach-in gasket is a component of a refrigeration unit used in commercial kitchens and other foodservice operations to keep perishable food items cold. The gasket creates an airtight seal when the door is closed, which helps to prevent cold air from escaping and warm air from entering the unit. This helps the refrigeration unit to maintain a consistent temperature, which is important for preserving the quality and safety of the food stored inside. Over time, reach-in gaskets can become worn or damaged, which can compromise their ability to create an airtight seal. This can result in increased energy consumption, decreased efficiency, and potential food safety issues. Regular inspection and replacement of reach-in gaskets is an important part of maintaining a properly functioning refrigeration unit.

Automatic Door Closers

Automatic door closers work by using a spring-loaded mechanism to automatically close the door when it is released from an open position. Automatic door closers are important in walk-in freezers to ensure that the door is closed properly, and that cold air is not lost from the freezer. This helps to maintain a consistent temperature inside the freezer, which is important for preserving the quality and safety of the food stored inside.

Electronically Commutated Motors

EC motors, or electronically commutated motors, are becoming increasingly popular for use in walk-in freezers and other refrigeration applications. These types of motors offer several advantages over traditional AC motors, including:

  • Energy efficiency: EC motors are more energy-efficient than AC motors, consuming up to 70% less power. This can result in significant cost savings over time, especially in applications where the motor is running continuously.

  • Variable speed control: EC motors can be easily controlled to vary the speed and output of the motor, allowing for precise control over the temperature and humidity levels inside the walk-in freezer. This can result in better food quality and longer shelf life.

  • Longer lifespan: EC motors have fewer moving parts and are less prone to wear and tear, resulting in a longer lifespan and reduced maintenance costs over time.

Night Covers

A refrigerated case night cover is a type of cover that is designed to be placed over a refrigerated display case, such as a deli case or a bakery case, when the store is closed. The purpose of the cover is to maintain the temperature of the case and prevent the food inside from becoming spoiled or losing its quality.

Refrigerated case night covers are typically made of a durable, insulated material that can retain cold air and prevent heat from entering the case. They are designed to be easy to use and can be quickly placed over the case at the end of the day and removed when the store opens.

In addition to maintaining the temperature of the food inside the case, refrigerated case night covers can also help to reduce energy costs by minimizing the amount of energy needed to keep the case chilled. They can also help to extend the lifespan of the food by preventing it from being exposed to ambient temperatures and moisture.
